Of 175 dogs, 45 dogs (25.7%) were infected with the Dirofilaria immitis, as revealed by an antigen-detecting test. Of these, 24 dogs (13.7%) were revealed to have microfilaria in the peripheral blood. The infection rates of heartworm in dogs at the age of 1¡3, 4¡6, 7¡13 years were 16%, 26.8%, and 37.8%, respectively.
