Ultrastructural Changes of Seminiferous Tubules in the Mouse by Cyclophosphamide

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of cyclophosphamide on the mouse seminiferous tubules by transmission electron microscopy.
Cyclophosphamide was injected intraperitoneal at a dosage of level 200mg/kg, 1 time and 2 times a week.
The results obtained were as follows; One week after the administration of.cyclophosphamide, the group of 1 time a week, pyknotic body was observed in cytoplasm of spermatogonium, large vesicle was observed intercellular space between spermatogonia and spermatocytes, but there was no significantly alterations on spermatogenesis. The group of 2 times a week, vesicle was observed in the nucleoplasm of spermatid as well as nucleus envelope was disrupted partially. Also, the mitochondria inner and outer membranes were separated or disrupted.
Therefore, these alterations could be mediated by toxic effects of the cyclophosphamide to the seminiferous tubules of the mouse.
