Abstract

|
The study was carried out to observe the antibody responses in humau infected with Salmenella typhi and vaccinated with typhoid mono-vaccine. Through this experiment, tube agglutination and plate agglutination tests were being used to detect antibody in serum. To identify the type of antibody in serum, 2-Mercapto-Ethanol treatment method was employed.
The results obtained were as follows :
1) Same antibody refponses were observed between active patient and vaccinated persons.
2) Antibodies to 0 and Vi antigen were declined gradualy from 30-45 days post vaccination or infection, where as antigen was not declined by then.
3) Antibody formation to Salmonella typhi was usually two stags; initial produced antibody was IgM followed by the later appearence of IgG.
