Abstract

|
|
Direct and noninvasive visualization of brain surface structures using T2 weighted fast scan with single thick slice was introduced. Clinical application in 70 cases (17 cases wit normal brain surface and 53 cases with abnormal brain surface)
using
STERF(Steady-state technique with refocused FID) was per formed, and visual comparison of image quality of STERF and spin echo techniques was done in 7 cases (4 normal cases and 3 abnormal cases) that were applicated both techniques. STERF brain
surface
imaging revealed satisfactory visualization of normal and abnormal brain surface structures within short scan time, compared with spin echo technique, although these brain surface imaging were not three-dimensional image but simple planar image.
Brain surface imaging using heavily T2 weighted fast scan such as STERF is simple and is taken less scan time, and may be useful for localization and evaluation of the brain surface structures and lesion.
