Abstract
Purpose: When performing functional reach test, we tried to know significant factors in order to improve the reliability of functional reach test by analyzing the test-retest reliability of such as the number of repetition for test, kinds of representative value, standardized protocol or mental and physical function of the subjects.

Materials and Methods: Conducting a study on hemiplegic patients due to stroke, We carried out functional reach test once, twice or three times and analysed test-retest reliability using the mean, median and maximum values. Also, applying standardized test protocol, we analysed the test reliability. Then, we conducted mental and physical function tests on the subjects and classified them by their scores into two groups such as high-scored group and low-scored group. The test-retest reliability for them were analysed.

Results: The test-retest reliability was higher in repeating the test twice or three times using its mean, median or maximum values than performing the test only once. But, there was no significant difference between repeating twice and repeating three times. Also, there was no significant difference among the mean, median and maximum values. After applying the standardized test protocol, the test-retest reliability was as high as 0.95, showing the highest value. The group with lower Motricity index showed lower test-retest reliability than the group with higher Motricity index and the group with left hemiplegia showed lower test-retest reliability than the group with right hemiplegia.

Conclusion: To apply standardized test protocol was the most important factor to improve the test-retest reliability of the functional reach test. Also, the test reliability could be elevated using the mean, median or maximum values which were obtained from repeating test. Physical function level of the subjects could affect the reliability of the test as well.
