Abstract
The uses of continuous epidural catheterization for pain control have increased nowadays. A potentially serious complication of long-term epidural catheterization is abscess. The careful catheter hygiene, and close observation for the signs of
infection
and abscess related with catheter are recommended for the prolonged use of epidural catheterization. We experienced a case of epidural abscess following continuous epidural catheterization and so the case is presented.
The predisposing factors, infection sourses, and prevention of infection are discussed. And the common signs and symptoms, diagnosis, and treatments are reviewed in this article.
