Effects of Gratitude Disposition, Social Support, and Occupational Stress of Clinical Nurses on Grit

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose: This is a descriptive research that aims to identify the effects of clinical nurses' gratitude disposition, socialsupport, and occupational stress on grit and provide basic data for the development of future grit promotion amongclinical nurses.
Methods: The study participants were 164 nurses who had worked at three general hospitals inJeollabuk-do, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire from May 2022 to June 2022. For data analysis,descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysiswere conducted using SPSS 23.0.
Results: The average grit score was 42.26±5.48. Grit showed a positive correlationwith gratitude disposition and social support and a negative correlation with occupational stress. The factorsinfluencing grit were gratitude disposition, clinical experience of 12~60 months, and occupational stress; social supportdid not have any effect on grit. The explanatory power was 25.0%.
Conclusion: Results confirmed that the higher thegratitude disposition among clinical nurses, the higher the grit; and the lower the occupational stress, the higher thegrit. In order to increase grit among clinical nurses, measures at the nursing organization level, including training andprograms that can strengthen gratitude disposition and reduce occupational stress, are needed.
