Post-transcriptional regulation of human Myf6 gene expression by 3 AUG codons

Abstract

|
Myf6 is a critical myogenic transcription factor. The 5’ untranslated region of Myf6 mRNA contains striking feature of three repeats of AUG codon at the translation initiation site, a structural features rare in mammalian genes. By analysing various AUG repeating forms of Myf6 mRNA in CV-1, HeLa and NIH 3T3 cells, we found that the 3x AUG repeat of Myf6 is to down regulate expression by tow fold post-transcriptionally.
