-Abstract-
The Yonsei University College of Nursing is originated from the Severance Nursing
School founded by E. L. Shields in 1906. The Severance School for Training Nurses
developed into an union school comprised of each missionary board working in Korea.
The high quality of the education was acknowledged by the issuing of the license for
the graduates of the school without examination.
『The Catalogue of Severance Union Medical College Training School for Nurses』 is
a document of historical significance which reveals the early history of the school. The
catalogue includes historical sketch of the school and rules for students; the latter
specifies not also academic affaires, such as entrance, graduation and subjects taught
during their course of study, but also their activities in hospital and life in dormitory.
Attached to the end of the catalogue is the list of the graduates with their permanent
domicile.
