In June 1998, the steering committee for the establishment of Dong-Eun Medical Museum was formed
with members from the department of medical history. Starting September 1998, members of the
committee visited professional museums and took advice from the experts who worked in each museum.
In October 1998, The plan for the establishment of Medical Museum based on the research and advice
was prepared. In June 1999, the contract to build the museum was signed with Sigong Tech. In
September 10, 1999, the construction for the exterior of the museum was finished. In October 1999, the
name of the museum was decided on 'Dong-Eun Medical Museum at Yonsei University College of
Medicine'. In November 1999, Hyoung-Woo Park, Chairman of the department of medical history was
appointed as the first director of the museum. At the time of greeting a new millenium, as a gesture of
organizing the past century, the opening date of the museum was set on January 14, 2000.
