Abstract

It is most important to differentiate non-hemorrhagic stroke from hemorrhagic stroke to treat a patient properly with acute neu-rologic deterioration. Recently, diffusion weighted magnetic resonance (MR) [diffusion weighted image (DWI)] has been the first-line image modality to evaluate this situation. So it is mandatory to characterize DWI findings of acute hemorrhage. In hemorrhagic stroke, a concentric dark area mixed with the central bright lesion is also surrounded by thin, high-signal rim depicts on DWI. (Korean J Stroke 2008;10:65-66
