This study was a pilot survey to evaluate the effects of aircraft and fire range noise on hearing acuity. 25 subjects (age£º41-60) were recruited from the noise exposure areas and 28 subjects (age£º41-60) were recruited from the control areas. Before the test, subjects were asked about hearing difficulty, otologic past history and past experience of noise exposure at work and military service. The test was a pure tone audiometry using the ascendfing method of limits with 5 dB step at 5 test frequencies of 0.5 to 4 kHz. The analyses used mixed model to determined the effects of chronic aircraft and fire range noise exposure on hearing level. The results of audiometry measurements indicated that hearing ability was reduced significantly in individuals who lived near the fire range(p<0.05).
