Studies on Delusions in the Schizophrenics


Abstract
This study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of delusions in schizophrenics. 186 subjects were selected for this study who showed delusions and were diagnosed as schizophrenia at Seoul National Mental Hospital during the period from January 1, 1984. to December 31, 1984. The author analyzed the results in terms of age and sex distribution, clinical delusional types, delusional themes and delusional contents.
The findings are as follows.
1. The age of the majority of the patients ranges from 20 to 39 years old in both sexes.
2. Paranoid schizophrenia was the most prevailing clinical type in both sexes.
3. Persecutory delusion is most common in both sexes. The incidence of erotic delusion is significantly higher among women patients than men.
4. In terms of delusional contents, hypochondriacal contents were the most common feature in both sexes.
