Study on the Salivary Cariogenic Factors in the Mentally Disordered Male and Female Korean Twenties

Abstract
In order to study the influence of salivary cariogenic factors on the dental caries in each sexes of mentallg disordered Korean, the authors had examined the unstimulated and stimulated salivary flow rate, salivary viscosity test and salivary buffering capacity test in 50 male and 50 female Korean twenties admitted in Seoul National Mental Hospital and following results .were obtained.
1. Unstimulated salivary, flow rate, for five minutes was 1.8m1 in males and l.Sml in females.
2. Stimulated salivary flow rate for five minutes was 6.2ml in males and 4.3m1 in females.
3. Salivary viscosity was-2.4 in males and 2.1 in females.
4. Salivary buffering capacity was 7.8 drops in males and 6.4 drops in females.
S. Salivary flow rate and buffering capacity may have an anticariogenic effect on the occurrence of dental caries in Koreans.
