Therapentic Effect of Clonidine in the Treatment of Tardive Dyskinesia

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this pilot study was to evaluate the therapeutic effect of clonidine, al and a2-adrenoreceptor agonist, in the treatment of tardive dyskinesia.
The subjects were nine schizophrenic patients with tardive dyskinesia hospitalized at National Seoul Mental Hospital, were treated with clonidine at the dose of 0.45mg/day for four weeks.
They´were evaluated on the clinical change of tardive dyskinesia with Abbreviated Dyskinetic Scale (ADS). weekly,.with the result that tardive dyskinesia was reduced clinically in,the five of nine patients with clonidine administration.
