Exploring Women Farmers¡¯ Health and Its Determinant Factors

Abstract
The purposes of this study are to analyze factors affecting women farmer¡¯s health and to suggest some alternatives for improving her health. In order to achieve these purposes this study used sampled data collected by a local research institute.
From data analysis, this study found as follows; First of all, women farmer¡¯s health is considerably poor. Among various health dimensions of women farmers, their arthritis-muscle and mental conditions are relatively serious. This study also shows that 60 percentage of women farmers have suffered from one of various diseases such as cancer, hypertension, diabetes, disks, stomach ulcer, cataract etc.
And woman farmer¡¯s age, economic conditions, poor management after childbirth, and hypersensitivity have significant effects on her physical health and diseases. That is, women farmers who are relatively worse in physical health and diseases are as follows; they are older and economically poorer, did not manage convalescence after childbirth, and have many works leading to excessive stress. On the other hand, the participation of woman farmer¡¯s husband in houseworks has a significant effect on her mental health. In other words, woman farmer who is not satisfied with her husband¡¯s participation in houseworks also is relatively poorer in mental health. From those findings, this study suggests some welfare policies for woman farmer¡¯s health.
