Abstract

Malignant hyperthermia like syndrome (MHLS) is a rare complication that encountered during the treatment of patients with hyperglycemic hyperosmolar nonketotic syndrome. Most reports were children and adolescents that had suffered from MHLS. The clinical manifestations in patients with MHLS included idiopathic hyperthermia, rhabdomyolysis, renal insufficiency and cardiac instability with high mortality. No underlying pathogenesis could explain this syndrome precisely, so there had been no definite treatment guidelines for MHLS. We report here on a case of MHLS that presented in a middle aged man, not in adolescents, who had recovered fully only with conservative treatments.
