Therapeutic Effect of the OMB® on Musculoskeletal Pain

Abstract

|
|
Objective: To determine the therapeutic effect of oscillation bath in patients with musculoskeletal pain.
Method: Twenty-eight patients with musculoskeletal pain who received no interventional procedures were studied. The control group bathed in the OMB® without vibration, and the OMB® group bathed in the OMB® with oscillation, 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 4 weeks, for a total of 20 baths. Patients drew their pain on a pain drawing sheet. Pain intensity was evaluated with visual analogue scale (VAS). Changes in the VAS and number of sites before and after 4 weeks of bath therapy were assessed statistically using the t-test.
Results: The average VAS decreased from 4.4?0.5 to 3.6?0.3 in the control group (p＞0.05) and 4.1?0.5 to 1.9?0.4 in the OMB® group (p＜0.05). The number of pain sites decreased from 3.8?0.6 to 3.0?0.4 (p＞0.05) in the control group, and 4.0?0.6 to 2.4?0.4 in the OMB® group (p＜0.05). There were no adverse effects with the OMB®.
Conclusion: The OMB® bath may be an effective treatment modality for patients with musculoskeletal pain.
