Treatment and Management of a Spinal Cord Injury Patient with Uncontrolled Chronic Pain, Depression and a Suicidal Attempt -A Case Report-
Na In-Hoon

Na Sang-Sun
Abstract
This case is about a 58-year-old man with chronic spinal cord injury (SCI) attempted suicide owing to the SCI-asso-ciated pain and depression. The patient¡¯s medical history (medications, physical examination and psychological as-sessment) and his cognitions regarding his pain were assessed. This case shows that a multidisciplinary ap-proach for the management can be used for a patient with intractable SCI-related pain. A practical 3-step approach for patients with SCI pain should be considered. This will help patients live independently and most importantly, return to work and daily life activities without much pain.
