We present a case of a 59-year-old male patient who had had a history of pain over the lateral aspect of the left knee for 15 years. The symptom was aggravated when descending stairs and in cold weather. The patient had been diagnosed with degenerative arthritis by another clinic. Even with continued conservative treatment, his symptom persisted. On physical examination, the patient complained of allodynia of the lateral side of the left knee. Sharp pain was reproduced when pressing the lesion. During ultrasound, a 5 mm-sized hypoechoic lesion was seen in the subcutaneous tissue. A contrast-enhanced MRI was performed, which revealed a small nodular lesion in the subcutaneous tissue on the lateral patellar retinaculum of the left knee. It was well enhanced. An excision biopsy of the mass was performed, and the histopathologic finding was glomus tumor. The sharp pain ceased after the excision of the mass.
