Present Status and Future Tasks of Korean Vocational Rehabilition -Related Legislation and System-

Abstract

|
Policy and laws which regulate vocational rehabilitation services in a country are different from country to country as these systems reflect unique history, culture, and social issues of that country. At the point of 25 years of quota system has passed in Korea, it is meaningful to consider past history and future direction of vocational rehabilitation system in our country. To study policy and laws on vocational rehabilitation services through rehabilitation materials and literature, this article examined basic direction of employment policy for persons with disabilities shown in The Second Five Year Rehabilitation Plan for Persons with Disabilities. This article has also introduced quota system, sheltered employment, and discrimination legislatives on employment policy of people with disabilities. policy and basic principles in vocational rehabilitation have been introduced along with major issues of related legislatives such as Special Education Promotion Act, Welfare Act for Persons with Disabilities, and Employment Promotion and Vocational Rehabilitation Act for Persons with Disabilities. Finally future direction of vocational rehabilitation services in our country has been suggested as a conclusion.
