Reality and Direction of Vocational Education in Special Education from a Transition Education Perspective

Abstract
Transition education outcome is represented by the employment of graduated students. The employment, transition education outcome, of students with disabilities was underachieved, because of lack of understanding for the transition education concept and of system development. The purpose of this study was to review the current reality and to suggest the direction of vocational education curriculum and vocational education teacher training and placement in special education from a transition education perspective. In vocational education curriculum of special education, transition education concept, vocational education curriculum organization and operation reality, and IEP and ITP organization and operation reality were reviewed and the direction of vocational education curriculum was suggested. In vocational education teacher training and placement of special education, transition education teacher competency, and the reality of vocational education teacher training and placement were reviewed and the direction of vocational education teacher training and placement was suggested. Vocational education in special education is a comprehensive education area from a outcome-oriented transition education perspective. In special education, vocational education curriculum operation and vocational education teacher training and placement should be actively considered in order to succeed in result of the graduated students with disabilities including employment, independent living.
