Abstract
The purpose of the study was to investigate the process and results of standardization of McCarron Assessment of Neuromuscular Development(MAND), a major vocational evaluation tool as well as a neurological motor development tool of the MDS in Korea. The contents of the study were as follows: First, to analyze statistical differences between male and female that should be considered to develop standard score conversion table of K-MAND; Second, to present measurement appropriateness of K-MAND by analyzing the reliability and validity. The subject of the study was 301 highschool second grade students as a general population selected by systematic random sampling and 291 adolescents with mental retardation or developmental disabilities as a clinical population. The results of the study revealed as follows: First, the statistical differences between male and female was found nut & bolt, rod slide, hand strength, jumping, gross motor, total score in general population, and hand power, jumping, heel-toe-walk, stand one foot, gross motor, total score; Second, the standard score conversion table was developed using mean and standard deviation of K-MAND¡¯s fine motor, gross motor, and total motor indexes were 100 and 15, respectively, and the mean and standard deviation of K-MAND¡¯s 10 fine and gross motor tasks were 10 and 3, respectively. The test-retest reliability of fine motor, gross motor, and total score was more than .590 in general population and more than .839 in clinical population. The standard error of measurement was below 1.25 in general population and below 1.66 in clinical population. The K-MAND was composed of four factors in both populations by factor analysis as factors of MAND. Discussion and conclusions of the study was followed.
