The Consideration of employment situation for disabled women in Germany

Abstract
Disabled women in Germany are better qualified then men with disabilities. Nevertheless they face more difficulties at job training and regular employment. 40% of all disabled women start their working life in a sheltered workshop ("Werkstatt fuer Behinderte") and therefore have less alternatives then men which at times also find a job in the regular working markets. Disabled women mostly focus on home economics and service sector (e.g. barber shop). The working conditions of these jobs are especially difficult and full of hardships; the high competition with not-disabled citizens results in unemployment. Although these facts are known, disabled women carry on choosing disadvantegeous jobs due to 4 reasons: socialisation, dual orientated concept of life, anticipation of direct/indirect experiences and restricted job offer at facilities for persons with disabilities. This article aims at presenting German experiences in order to avoid similar mistakes in the vocational rehabilitation for women in Korea.
