A Study on the Job Analysis of Rehabilitation Counselor for Injured-Worker¡¯s compensation : Focusing on DACUM Method

Abstract
This study tries to draw the definition of rehabilitation counselor for injured workers using DACUM job analysis method. Also it aims to provide primary materials for rehabilitation counselor training by analysing rehabilitation counselor¡¯s jobs. The results from the analysis are as followings: Rehabilitation counselors can be defined as the experts who provide injured workers with rehabilitation services so that they could return to society and work as well. Jobs that rehabilitation counselors are currently carrying out consist of 16 duties and 88 tasks. In addition, in total there are 8 duties as the core function of rehabilitation counselors, which are rehabilitation counseling, case searching, case management planning, supporting for the commencement of an enterprise, grant for return to work, linking resources in local communities, follow up, assisting employment. The core roles and functions of the rehabilitation counselors in Korea Worker¡¯s Compensation & Welfare Service can be redesigned to the role of mediators, coordinators and counselors. Mediator¡¯s roles are rehabilitation counseling, grant for return to work and follow up, and Coordinators¡¯ roles are case searching, case management planning, supporting for the commencement of an enterprise, linking resources in local communities and assisting employment. Lastly, the role of counselors in rehabilitation counseling.
