Abstract

|
This paper reviewed numerous studies relevant to the relationship among the education level of rehabilitation counselors, counselor job performance, and employment outcomes of clients with disabilities. Findings of all studies reviewed in this paper suggested that rehabilitation counselors with at least a master¡¯s degree demonstrated better employment outcomes than their counterparts with a bachelor¡¯s degree. Findings also indicated that pre-service education should be geared to focusing on graduate-level academic training in order to increase the number of qualified rehabilitation service providers. Finally, the broader implications of graduate training for rehabilitation counseling professionals were presented.
