A Study on the Academic Achievement Measurement Scales of Persons with Developmental Disabilities for the Use of Vocational Assessment

Abstract
This study was aimed at investigating vocational evaluation scale items for the academic achievement area. The current researcher developed a totals of 50 items; 25 items for reading and writing and 25 items for mathmatics each based on items analyses and factor analyses. All the evaluation scale items are categorized into the following six areas: Consonant Comprehension (11 items), Words Association Scale (14 items), Number Counting Scale (8 items), Numerical Discrimination (6 items), Addition Scale (6 items), and Subtraction Scale (5 items). Reliability coefficients in this study are ranged from .97 to .91 showing high reliability patterns. Reliability coefficients are calculated based on a total of 117 persons with developmental disabilities who are high school students and local vocational rehabilitation service users. This study was intended to estimate the academic achievement levels of persons disabilities and to devise easurement instruments in the areas of reading and writing in Korean language and math to manifest their own fundamental academic abilities. A test battery to measure basic academic skills for the use in vocational rehabilitation was applied to a sample of 117 persons with disabilities. They were taking courses at secondary schools, an integrated curriculum and were trained at a vocational rehabilitation center.
