Exploring Career Preparation of University Students with Disabilities and without Disabilities : Focusing on Latent Class Analysis

Abstract
The purpose of this study suggests to support by comparing characteristics of career preparation in university students with disabilities and without disabilities. The data from 72 university students with disabilities and 1500 university students without disabilities were compared and analyzed for the purpose of study. In order to analyze characteristics of career preparation, Latent Profile Analysis was used. Based on finding, first, students with disabilities were classified into four different groups and student without disabilities were classified into three different groups. Furthermore, four groups of students with disabilities were labeled ¡®high-career preparation group¡¯, ¡®career exploration group¡¯, ¡®below average career preparation group¡¯, and ¡®low-career preparation group¡¯. In career exploration group, the score of official implement was highest and the score of social support resource was higher than peer average in ¡®below average preparation group¡¯ In ¡®low-career preparation group¡¯, the score of all areas showed lower than other groups, though the score of self-knowledge was higher than other five areas within group. Third, ¡®high-career preparation group¡¯ with disabilities resulted higher in five areas than that of ¡®high-employment group without disabilities. Based on the result, we discussed and suggested outstanding implication to support career preparation for university students with disabilities.
