A Study on Job Analysis of Care Worker Assistants with Developmental Disabilities

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to do job analysis of care worker assistants with developmental disabilities based on DACUM method. The delphi subjects were 30 supported employment specialists consisting of 14 vocational rehabilitation specialists and 16 care workers. Based on literature reviews, delphi survey contents were completed and the surveys were carried out twice. The results were analyzed by importance, difficulties, and frequencies on duties and tasks of care worker assistants, respectively. The conclusions of this study are as followings. First, it was proven that proper job functions for care worker assistants with developmental disabilities are caregiving, physical supports and daily living supports in 104 job duties. I means that jobs with high-level importance, high-level frequencies and low-level difficulties must be first considered when we place the care worker assistants on the jobs. Second, it is necessary to fully utilize the research results when providing supports for care worker assistants cultivating program based on proper job matching, and to provide consistant follow-up supports after job placement. Finally, it is suggested that discussions and legal systems on this issue are necessary in the future.
