Study on South Korean Masseurs" with Visual Impairments Job Satisfaction and Job Fit

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore how South Korean masseurs¡¯ with visual impairments¡® demographic variables and interaction of variables as work places, gender, and academic level differentiate their overall job satisfaction and job fit. Total of 198 South Korean masseurs with visual impairments, who are currently working at massage parlors, therapy oriented-massage centers, and the form of healthkeeper and mobile massage in Seoul participated in current study. The findings through one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) were as follows: First, South Korean masseurs¡¯ gender, working period, academic level, income, the level of visual impairment and the other job experience before/after their disability were not found to make any difference in their overall job satisfaction, but variables of age and work places. That is, younger masseurs, compared to the older and masseurs who are working at the massage parlors, compared to masseurs in the therapy oriented-massage centers, showed significantly low level of job satisfaction. Second, male masseurs in massage parlors, compared to female, and female masseurs in the form of mobile massage, compared to male, showed significantly higher level of job satisfaction. Third, masseurs who are working at the massage parlors and whose academic level is under high school graduate, compared to over college graduate, and masseurs who are working as healthkeepers, and whose academic level is over college graduate, compared to under highschool graduate, showed significantly higher level of job fit perception. Implications, for rehabilitation professionals based on such results were provided.
