A Study on the Analysis of Job Stress Factor and the Level of Job Satisfaction of Deaf Interpreters
Chang Jin-Seok

Abstract
In this research, the general characteristic of the deaf interpreters(DI) that work in sign language interpretation centers(SLIC) nationwide, and their special work environment characteristics were understood, and by analyzing the level of job stress and the level of job satisfaction, the extent to how much job stress factors influence job satisfaction was verified. As a result, by only increasing the level of job stability of the DI and decreasing job stress to increase job satisfaction was it possible to enhance the organizational goal and performance of the SLIC.
In the situation where the lower the job stress and higher the level of the job satisfaction, detailed research results were that first, a concern exists on the job stability and the potential growth of the deaf interpreters and since labor conditions such as work environment and wage had been poor, it had caused job stress. Therefore, for efficient management of SLIC, a raise in awareness for the DI who play a pivotal role as a professional occupation is required along with the improvement of labor conditions.
Second, it was proven that the level of job satisfaction was higher when they focused on the interpretation service itself and there was a proper diffusion of workload. Thus, the functional scope must be regulated for the DI so that they should be able to focus only on the Korean sign language interpretation service and counseling service for the deaf.
Third, since the level of job stress was higher in the conditions of a higher academic background and older age, for a professional Korean sign language interpretation service, better personnel considerations and a motivating plan to increase job satisfaction for the higher-experienced DI are needed.
