Relationship Between the Social Capital of Disabled elderly and Life Satisfaction Focusing on the Mediating Effects of Depression and Self Esteem

Abstract
This study has comprehensively applied the sub-range of social capital, which was universally and commonly proposed by preceding studies, and conducted a systematic review on its relationship with life satisfaction in disabled elderly. The purpose of this study is to suggest the ways to improve life satisfaction in disabled elderly by analyzing the mediating effects of self esteem and depression of disabled elderly. An analysis was performed using data that was investigated over 10 years in 2015 by the Korea Welfare Panel Study (KOWEPS). The study¡¯s main subjects were 685 disabled elderly, age 60 or over. Their data was analyzed using the SPSS 20.0 program. Upon examining the mediating effect of depression and self esteem on social capital and life satisfaction in disabled elderly, depression and self esteem had a partial mediating effect between the influence of overall network and life satisfaction. depression and self esteem also had a partial mediating effect between the influence of family network and life satisfaction. depression and self esteem also had a partial mediating effect between the influence of standard and reciprocality and life satisfaction. Based on the results of this study, we propose a plan to improve life satisfaction in disabled elderly.
