Abstract
Objective : This study examines the stable state when active tactile exploration is done while the vision is blocked. It also examines the change in brain waves when formal diagrams and irregular diagrams are explored.

Methods : The subjects of this study were 20 university students of Y University from September 10th. 2016 to September 20th, 2016. The measurement conditions of brain waves arc divided into three conditions: the stability condition that has no tactile exploration; and the active tactile exploration of formal diagrams and that of irregular diagrams. The brain waves analyzed the relative power values of alpha rhythms and mid-beta rhythms and the statistical analysis. ANOVA, was conducted according to the aforementioned three conditions.

Results : In compliance with the three conditions, the alpha rhythms showed meaningful differences when the diagrams were explored actively. The area where differences were shown in the alpha rhythm were the parietal lobe and occipital lobe. However, according to the three conditions. there were no meaningful differences seen in the mid-beta rhythms when the diagrams were explored actively.

Conclusion : The significance of this study lies in that it proposes a basis for brain activation for exploring and realizing complex shapes of diagrams, not simple ones.
