Abstract

Thirty Compositae plants were screened for ACE inhibitory activity. Among them, Ixeris dentate Nakai had the highest inhibitory activity. Crude water extracts of Ixeris dentate Nakai were obtained after treating at 60¡É for 2 hr and filtered using a series of membranes. The inhibitory substance was isolated using the consecutive chromatographic methods including FPLC, ion exchange chromatography, and reverse phase HPLC. The ACE inhibitory substance purified from Ixeris dentate Nakai was identified as a dipeptide, composed of Glu and Gly by mass spectrometry and amino acid analysis.
