A Study on the Use of a Daytime Child & Adolescent Treatment Center and the Effectiveness of the Integrated Therapy Case Management: Focusing on Cases of Dongdaemun-aizone

Abstract
|
|
|
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to explain the integrated therapy case management model performed at Dongdaemun-aizone and the effect of the integrated therapy case management on problem behaviors of children with emotional and behavioral disorders and child-rearing attitudes of their parents.
Method : Dongdaemun-aizone is one of the children and adolescent mental health care centers in Seoul to intensively take care of children with emotional and behavioral disorders. This study compared and analyzed before and after conditions of 73 cases at Dongdaemun-aizone from June 12th, 2012 to May 4th, 2015, and verified the effectiveness of the integrated therapy case management at Dongdaemun-aizone.
Result : This study showed a meaningful reduction in children`s problem behaviors. Also, 10~22% of mothers with improper child-rearing behaviors changed into showing normal behaviors, and 27~63% of mothers with proper child-rearing behaviors maintained their behaviors.
Conclusion : The integrated therapy case management effectively intervened in children`s problems through setting a proper for taking care of children with emotional and behavioral disorders and performing proper programs in time. It also contributed to reduce problem behaviors of children through considering children`s family and environment instead of focusing on the children with problems.
