Abstract

|
Lumbar hernias are quite uncommon compared with other ventral abdominal wall hernias. Lumbar hernias are rare defects that involve the extrusion of retroperitoneal fat or the intestine through a weakness in the posterior abdominal wall. Repairing such hernias is often difficult because the surrounding structures are weak. I experienced a case of iatrogenic lumbar hernia and a case of trauma-induced lumbar hernia. Both cases were treated through laparoscopic surgery. Here, I report the two cases of lumbar hernia along with a literature review.
