A Survey on the Utilization and Satisfaction of Wandering Detector to Prevent Elderly People with Dementia Missing

Abstract
Objective: The objective of this study is to provide basic information which helps care givers give an optimal environment to dementia patients by presenting their satisfaction and the usage of wandering alarm.

Method: This study is a 1:1 survey of 239 recipients who are using long-term care services on the utilization and satisfaction of a wandering detector from January 1st to April 30th, 2020.

Results: 63.0 % of the respondents answered that the procedure was complicated due to inconvenience when using a wandering detector, but 73.4 % said they did not know the procedure. Among the reasons for not using a wandering detector, 14.4 % said they did not know what a wandering detector was. It also showed that the residents in the non-capital region were more satisfied than in capital region, the elderly living with family was than an elderly single person and the elderly couple- households.

Conclusions: To improve the satisfaction of using a wandering detector, it should enhance the convenience such as how to use it to allow the users and their families use it easily. Also, it should strengthen the promotion on the need for a wandering detector to non-users or their families to vitalize using it.
