Abstract
Objectives: The purpose of this study is to find out the meaning and experience of overcoming stuttering in adults who stutter.

Methods: For this purpose, the researchers conducted a narrative study on 5 adults with stuttering who think of themselves as stutterers. Therefore, in-depth interviews were conducted. The interview was divided into two sessions. In the first session, a life graph was used to make a visual reference to the life of the self, and open-ended questions were used to talk freely. In addition, the researchers referred to various qualitative data sources related to their experience only for the participants who consented. The collected data were analyzed by constant comparative method.

Results: As a result of this study, three themes and four subthemes were drawn. The three themes were ¡®Stuttering is a part of me¡¯, ¡®Stuttering is an obstacle that I must overcome alone¡¯, ¡®Overcoming the stumbling block hand in hand with others¡¯, and the four subthemes are ¡®Thinking¡¯, and ¡®Action¡¯, ¡®Finding help around me¡¯, and ¡®Seeking the help of a professional¡¯.

Conclusion: In this study, the researchers interviewed 5 adults who stutter regarding the experiences of overcoming stuttering. Based on the results of the analysis, we were able to understand the process of recognizing and overcoming stuttering in adults.
