Abstract

Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) is a rodent-borne febrile illness caused by Hantavirus. HFRS is highly endemic in China, where human cases account for 90% of the world¡¯s total infection. This study aimed to identify the current seroepidemiological status of hantaan virus infection in Yanbian. In the present study, sera collected from 734, apparently, healthy individual residents of Yanji and Longing in Yanbian (Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture) were tested for Hantaan-specific IgG antibodies. The presence of Hantaan antibodies in serum samples were detected by Indirect Immuno-fluorescent Antibody (IFA) test. Overall, IgG positivity was detected in 8.7% (64/734) of the subjects at a screening titer (1:32).
According to this study, we can predict the Hantaan virus infection status of Yanbian and Democratic People`s Republic of Korea (DPRK).
