This study examines the effects of body function on lumbar stabilization exercise (LSE) using a swiss ball. Muscle strength by back muscle strength, equilibrium and agility on NURYTEC measuring apparatus analysis and pain by visual analog scale (VAS) was measured after a 12-week traditional physical therapy modality (9 workers) and a Swiss ball LSE group (9 workers). These results lead us to the conclusion that muscle strength by back muscle strength, equilibrium and agility were increased by LSE and there were differential effects between each groups. VAS was decreased on both groups but there was no differential effect between each groups. These results suggest that Swiss ball LSE has the capability to improve pain reduction, back muscle strength, equilibrium and agility. Consequently, Swiss ball LSE can lead to incremental body function improvement for industrial workesr with chronic lumbago.
