Hypertension is the most prevalent health problem among adult patients and prevalence of heart related disease is increasing in Korea. Recently, an updated hypertension guideline was introduced. A total of 180 participants aged 18 years or older were selected in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province, Korea. The questionnaire survey included demographic and disease related information as well as three major issues with the current hypertension guideline: awareness with pre-hypertension, life style modification, and home blood pressure. A total of 163 participants completed the questionnaire survey. The mean age of the participants was 57.97¡¾11.69 years and 42% of them were females. The major comorbidity diseases were Hyperlipidemia and Diabetes Mellitus. In addition, the mean period of hypertension was 21.34 years. In hypertensive individuals, the overall awareness of pre-hypertension, life style modification and home blood pressure were low. According to the study results, intervention measures should be undertaken at the clinical setting by creating awareness about lifestyle modifications, new hypertension criteria and home blood pressure.
