A Case Study of Artspsychotherapy on Improving a Female High School Student's Self-Esteem and School Adjustment

Abstract

The Purpose of this study was to find out the positive effects of artspsychotherapy to improve a highschool girl' self-esteem and school adjustment. The subject of this study was a first-year female student of a foreign language highschool and she had poor self-esteem and after years difficult times at school. The program consisted of seventeen sessions, each session about fifty, once a week. The treatment which lasted March, 2006 through September, 2006. The instruments used for this study were school adjustment scales, the self-esteem test and KSD, LMT drawing test for 2 times, pretest and posttest. The result from this study were as follows; First, according to the subject's school adjustment test analyz has been reduced school adjustment behaviors. Second, according to the subject's self-esteem scales' analyz has been improved self-esteem. Third, according to the KSD showed more positive communication with other students at school. Forth, according to the LMT showed more higher self-esteem and ability to cope with her conditions. In conclusion, these results of this case study showed that the artspsychotherpy for the student who had poor self-esteem and school adjustment had positive effects on enhancing self-esteem and school adjustment.
