A Study on the Development and Validation of Creative Connection Scale

Abstract
This study was aimed at developing the Creative Connection scale of Movement-based expressive art therapy based on the conceptual and operating definition, and the verification of its reliability and validation. Firstly, researching about the creativity of the expressive art therapy, and composing the operation definition and conception of sub-factors. After that, 46 items were selected by the operating definition of the creative connection, and 26 items were selected from the original questionnaire based on reviews of experts. Secondly, it was applied to 312 people, and investigative factor analysis resulted in developing the final 15 items. Internal consistency of the full scale and sub-factors were respective. Thirdly, confirmatory factor analysis on the responses regarding other 318 people were used to verify the validity of the scale and showed a reasonable fit index. The convergent validity analysis used a korean version of the five-factor mindfulness questionnaire with the spirituality scale for koreans; it verified the correction coefficient. Concurrent validity with the self-esteem scale and psychological well-being Scale(PWBS) was well verified. There was a negative relationship between the creative connection scale and psychological symptoms such as depression, anxiety, somatization, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, interpersonal sensitivity, hostility and PTSD. Increment validity was also tested with the Everyday Creative Scale. Finally the summary and discussion of the results underscore the need to further research and gain understanding of the limitations in this study.
