Abstract
Breast-cancer related arm-lymphedema (BCRL) is one of the most common and severe side effects of breast cancer treatment and results in a negative impact on the quality of life. High body mass index, type of axillary surgery, number of excised axillary lymph nodes, types and cycles of chemotherapy, and extent of radiotherapy have been reported to increase risk of BCRL. Almost of BCRL has been reported to occur during the first 2-3 years after surgery. In the life styles, air travel, ipsilateral arm blood pressure measurements, and skin/veno puncture have had no effect of BCRL. Extreme temperature such as sauna, and cellulitis would increase risk of BCRL. Clinicians need to educate their patients with evidence-based precaution guideline.
