Clinical Application of Lymphoscintigraphy in Lymphedema
Suh Min-Seok

Abstract
Lymphoscintigraphy is a non-invasive imaging test that visualizes the functions of the lymphatic system by injecting a colloidal radiopharmaceutical having a relatively large particle size (15-100 nm) intradermally or subcutaneously. For lymphedema occurring after cancer treatment lymphoscintigraphy can be applied in 1) differential diagnosis of edema, 2) visualize the functional status and severity of the lymphedema in a qualitative and quantitative manner, 3) evaluate functional improvement of lymphatics after treatment, 4) predict and may guide the therapeutic effect of lymphedema treatment. In this review, we will introduce clinical application studies according to the indications of lymphoscintigraphy and discuss the technical considerations of lymphoscintigraphy.
