Effects of the Spiritual Care Education on Spiritual Well-Being and Spiritual Care Competence in Nursing Students

Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this research was to determine effects of the spiritual care education on spiritual well-being and spiritual care competence in nursing students.
Method: The subjects of this study were 83 nursing students. Using one-group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental research design, we conducted the experiments of a spiritual care education during the period of 7 weeks from March through August of 2013. The program were composed of 7 sessions(total: 14hrs). The collected data were analysed by the SPSS/Win 18.0 program.
Results: There was significant change on spiritual care competence in nursing students after the intervention.
Conclusion: The spiritual care education was effective for nursing students in improving on spiritual care competence. Therefore, I recommend that this program should generously be applied to nursing students to improve on spiritual care competence.
