The relationship Among Sociability and Self-Esteem of Nursing Students

Abstract
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship among sociability and self-esteem of nursing students.
Methods : Using a structured questionnaire, data were collected from 253 nursing students. Frequency, descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and Scheffe¢¥ test, and Pearson correlation coefficient with SPSS package were used to data analysis.

Results : 1. The mean score of sociability was 3.54¡¾.303(min 1, max 5), And the mean score of self esteem 3.48¡¾.405(min 1, max 5). 2. As result of analyzing general aspects of the sociability, statistically significant differences were found in character(F=10.038, p<.001), adaptation to situation or environmental change(F=13.683, p<.001), satisfaction of clinical practices(F=4.778, p<.01), motivation of choosing to nursing department(F=3.461, p<.01). As result of analyzing general aspects of the self esteem, statistically significant differences were found in character(F=13.236, p<.001), adaptation to situation or environmental change(F=12.718, p<.001), satisfaction of
lecture(F=5.425, p<.01), satisfaction of clinical practices(F=3.549, p<.05), motivation of choosing to nursing department(F=3.651, p<.01) 3. As result of analysis of correlation between the sociability and self esteem were statically significant relationships(r=.760, p<.001).

Conclusions : Through this results, the educational program for improvement of sociability and self esteem is needed for nursing students
