Abstract

Research included the Traumatic Antecedents Questionnaire, Trauma and Attachment Belief Scale, Counseling Self-estimate Inventory, and Secondary Traumatic Stress Scale. Correlation, hierarchical regression and the Sobel test were used to analyze data from 160 sexual abuse counselors from the Daegu and Gyeongbuk provinces. Traumatic antecedents had a significant positive correlation with trauma belief and secondary traumatic stress, and a significant negative correlation with self-efficacy. Self-efficacy and trauma belief showed partial mediation effects on the relationship between traumatic antecedents and secondary traumatic stress. Implications and future research directions are proposed.
