Abstract
Epilepsy, which is a chronic neurological condition characterized by recurrent seizures, affects approximately 50 million people of all ages worldwide. Epidemiological studies provide useful data both for primary prevention and for setting public health and health care priorities, as well as furnishing information on measures that can be taken for early detection and treatment. However, only a few epidemiological studies of epilepsy have been conducted in Korea. In this review, those studies and related issues regarding epidemiological research on epilepsy are discussed.
