Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effect of group therapy based on occupational-tasks on the depression of patients with mild dementia through systematic review of literature.
Methods: We searched published studies in Riss, Pubmed, KISS databases from 2009 to 2019. The used main keywords used were ¡°Dementia OR Mild Dementia OR Early Dementia¡°, ¡°Depression OR Elderly Depression¡°, ¡°Occupation OR Occupational Therapy¡±, ¡±Group OR Group Therapy¡±. We were selected for analysis 9 studies that fit the selection criteria.
Results: Nine papers were used to analyze the effect of task - oriented group therapy on mild dementia patients on depression. In all nine articles, depression scores were lowered after intervention compared to depression scores before task-based group therapy and task-focused group therapy, indicating that task-centered group therapy was effective. There was a statistically significant difference in depression symptom relief among patients.
Conclusion: In this study, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in the decrease of depressive symptom among the elderly patients with mild dementia. It may be helpful to provide a basis for further studies of treatment.
